Dedication:
To Ida Kimble Blanding:
To one who, having that sweet gift... the growing
touch,
Made flowers bloom on far-off windy Western plains;
Coaxed violets, gay phlox, shy pansies and all other such
Frail things to brave the summer's heat and slashing rain;
Gave friendly aid to each green blade that bravely
shoved
Its fragile head above the gray dust's sultry smother;
So fondly loving flowers and by flowers greatly loved....
I dedicate my book to Mother.
